About Tony

tony liddicoat five bells job doneTony comes from the West Country of the United Kingdom. His childhood was spent in the counties of Devon, Somerset and Cornwall, the latter is where his family name "Liddicoat" originates. His father was in the British Army and Tony himself left school at fourteen to follow in the family tradition.

He was initially stationed at Dover in Kent, which proved to be an ideal location for him to begin his lifelong passion for going underwater. Tony joined the prestigious Corps of Royal Engineers after graduating from his boy soldier training at Junior Leaders in Dover.

Throughout his life he has travelled extensively around the world, always diving wherever he went. He was nominated "British Diver of the Year" in 1981 for his "in water" rescue of an American recreational diver who had contracted severe spinal bends. Tony still enjoys diving and is an active member of the Folkestone Sub Aqua Club. tony liddicoat, five bells job done
